Inis Oírr hosts the Islands All Ireland GAA Weekend, a one day tournament with Ladies and Men's competitions, all hosted on Inis Oírr Beo
This year’s Islands All Ireland GAA tournament brought islanders across the country to the island of Inis Oírr. Held over the course of the Saturday, both men’s and women’s teams competed fiercely for the title of All Ireland Island Champions, showcasing the unique talent that island communities bring to the sport.
The women's final took place at 1pm, followed by the men’s final at 7pm — two thrilling showdowns that capped off a day of non-stop action. From the first throw-in to the final whistle, the atmosphere was electric, with each game carrying the pride of its island.
Congratulations to the Inis Bofin Ladies and the Bere Island Men's teams on their victory!
For the first time, scores and updates were made available live on the Inis Oírr Beo app, marking a major step forward in digital engagement for the tournament. Over 1,000 viewers followed the games on the app throughout the weekend — whether on the islands, the mainland, or further afield — ensuring that islanders everywhere could stay connected to the excitement.
Adding to the experience, Bere Island Community Radio streamed the matches, allowing listeners to tune in live to the action and commentary from the pitch. The coverage helped bring the island GAA spirit to a broader audience, capturing the heart and intensity of every match.
The success of this year’s tournament goes far beyond the final scores. It was a celebration of community, resilience, and connection — both physical and digital. Congratulations to all the teams who competed and to everyone involved in making the weekend a true celebration of island life and sport. We’re already looking forward to next year’s tournament!
Next year's tournament will be held on Inis Turk, we'll see you there!
